- WHO THIS IS AND WHAT THIS IS -

Add sensory-based approaches to your toolbox

This practice is data-driven and our understanding of evidence-based best practice. NOTE FOR LIZ TO REWORK THIS SENTENCE A BIT. Applied to dogs, it becomes a welfare-forward assessment and intervention option for dogs who are high-drive, hard-working, and often labeled complicated.

Instead of posing as a "flashy new approach," this approach deepens our understanding of our dogs' points of view. It works alongside both, addressing a layer of need that neither was built to reach on its own

- HOW THIS WORKS -

Assessment, program, enrichment.

Assessment

Analyzing each dog's individual tendencies through an observational measure.

Program

A working phase shaped around each dog's assessment, tracking improvements and making data-driven decisions within training or behavior modification plans.

Enrichment

Guardians are empowered to go beyond standard enrichment recommendations to improve their dog's quality of life long term.

- TWELVE YEARS IN THE FIELD -

Go beyond theory and back to how everything starts: truly hearing what our dogs tell us.

Over twelve years working professionally with dogs, and five years developing this specific approach, the pattern kept repeating:

Dogs who had done everything right in training, and still seemed unsettled in their own bodies.

The people closest to this work, positive-reinforcement-aligned trainers, neuroscientists, occupational therapists, saw it immediately. This site is the first attempt to bring it to people meeting it for the first time.

Zuko

Zuko is the most extreme case of unmet sensory need encountered in twelve years of this work. He is an outlier, not a typical case, and not a cautionary tale about any other method. His story is not about behavior modification failing him. It is about what became possible once his sensory needs were understood as separate from, and just as real as, his behavior.

- HOW THIS IS SHARED -

The goal isn't to replace what's already working. It's to fill in what's been missing.
